Younes Al Arab recently ran the Dubai Marathon in support of Axum Africa, raising almost 11,000 Dhs! The Al Arab family have been long-time supporters of the project, having sponsored two children in Axum since the sponsorship program was initiated. Of course all the hard work of the run was down to Younes, but he couldn’t have raised that amazing amount of cash without the support of many friends and Dubai businesses.
In January of 2009 we lost a dear friend and supporter of Axum Africa. 14-year-old Jordan Whitman and her brother Nick regularly corresponded with students in Axum. The Whitman Family have been wonderful supporters of Axum-Africa since its inception. In memory of this spirited and loving girl, we have set up a memorial fund in Jordan’s name. The money will be used to support Sabrina Soloman, a nine- year old girl who has Polio. The fund will pay the costs for medical treatment and rehabilitation for Sabrina as well as paying a helper so she will be able to attend school.
